The technical structure of laser printing is much more complicated than that of inkjet printing, which virtually increases the product cost. Therefore, inkjet printing has an obvious advantage in the initial investment. Entry-level inkjet printing costs only a few hundred yuan, and some products are even lower, while black-and-white laser printing hovers at the threshold of one thousand yuan. Therefore, there is a view that lashing that requires relatively high upfront investment can't compete with spraying with good quality and low price. In fact, this view ignores a very key hidden factor, that is, spraying is not always so cheap, and its products have gone through a long process from birth to popularization and application. On the other hand, the price of lashing is dropping step by step. Whether it can drop to the same price as lashing is unknown, but it will be a matter of time before breaking through the psychological price of consumers. The price of about 1,000 yuan is actually not too high for business applications. There are many examples of successful products on the market, such as Samsung M L-1610, which is known as the "king of bunting", and Samsung SCX-4200, the smallest and lightest black-and-white laser all-in-one machine. The hot sales of these two products fully demonstrate that the price threshold of lashing is not as insurmountable as imagined.

Another aspect of the cost decision is the later investment of products, especially the later investment of consumables. Behind the common price reduction and sale, the significance of the product itself has been weakened to a certain extent, and the input of consumables has become the most critical factor about TCO. Generally speaking, the original ink cartridges used by inkjet printers cost about one or two hundred yuan, and can print four or five hundred ordinary A4 text documents. Ignoring the paper cost, the average printing cost per page of documents is about 0.2 to 0.5 yuan. While the price of a toner cartridge for laser printers is about 500 yuan (black and white), if the loss of the toner cartridge is not considered (the life of the toner cartridge is usually very high, and it is allowed to be excluded from the list of consumables if it is not very strict), its converted printing cost is less than that of 0.1 yuan. In this way, if you print a large number of documents, you can save a few printers' money in one month, and the advantages of lashing in the overall cost investment will suddenly appear.

Compared with stylus printer and inkjet printer, laser printer has obvious advantages.

(1) High density. The minimum printing resolution of the laser is 300dpi, and there are also high resolutions such as 400dpi, 600dpi, 800dpi, 1200dpi, 2400dpi and 4800dpi.

(2) High speed. The minimum printing speed of laser printers is 4ppm, generally 12ppm and 16ppm, and some laser printers can reach more than 24ppm.

(3) Low noise. Generally below 53dB, it is very suitable for use in quiet office places.

(4) Strong processing ability. The controller of the laser printer has CPU and memory. The controller is equivalent to the motherboard of the computer, so it can perform complex word processing, image processing and graphic processing, which cannot be done by stylus printer and inkjet printer. It is also the difference between page printer and line printer.
